Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant-HSCT

Stem cells that give rise to all the other blood cells through the process of haematopoiesis.

Following types of HSCT are done at AFBMTC.

Allogeneic bone marrow and peripheral blood stem celll transplant from HLA-matched sibling and realted donor. Both myeloablative and reduced intensity transplants are done depending upon the patient condition and disease indication.

Common indications include aplastic anaemia, beta- thalassaemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Less common indications include Sickle cell disease, storage disorders, immune deficiency syndromes, myelodysplastic syndromes and HLH.

Autologous stem celll transplant is done in multiple myeloma, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas and neuroblastoma.
